BLACK & ROSSI FOUNDER BILL BLACK HIGHLIGHTS MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR DATA EXCHANGE SYSTEM DURING PRESENTATION AT PDT EUROPE 2012 IN THE HAGUE

The Hague, Netherlands—September 25-26, 2012—Black & Rossi President and Founder Bill Black gave a major presentation on Performance Based Logistics Maintenance and Repair (M&R) Data Exchange (DEX) to an international audience during PDT Europe 2012 in The Hague, Netherlands. Black was invited to speak at the event based on his company’s history of collaborating with other private and public sector experts to develop the M&R DEX. That system is an easy-to-use, fast to implement means for exchanging critical data in order to repair military equipment in a battlefield environment.

“In a world of public-private partnerships, Performance Based Logistics agreements and coalition military operations, chances are small that military maintenance providers use the same maintenance management information system (MMIS),” Black noted. “Even if they did, competition and military sensitive data would limit most access. That’s why the free exchange of technical and business data related to a repair are critical to reducing cost and time to repair military equipment. We developed the M&R DEX to resolve this. And, there are many other industries that can benefit from it as well including aerospace, transportation, and even retail.”

Black provided insight into the scope and status of planning for the M&R DEX, including its recent, highly successful use at the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Exercise (CWIX 2011) and its path for implementation within the U.S. Department of Defense. At CWIX, held at the NATO Joint Forces Training Center in Bydgoszcz, Poland, Black led a team of experts from the U.S. military and private industry. For the first time in a battlefield environment, the Black & Rossi-led team successfully demonstrated the ability to securely share and transfer highly sensitive maintenance and operational data between NATO and coalition partners.

PDT Europe 2012 was co-organized by Eurostep and CIMdata with sponsorship from Microsoft, DNV, and OASIS. Presentations highlighted the need to think Data Sharing instead of Data Exchange in collaboration for configuration management. Presentations focused on how modeling and simulation could benefit from more collaboration across disciplines, software tools and enterprises.
